I bought this as an add on to my computer since I purchased a set of 5.1 Creative surround sound computer speakers. I hooked it up, it installed the few bits of software, I changed the settings and I was golden. Surround sound.
Only qualm: some times it's finicky and doesn't always like to remember the setting I had it on, so I need to go back and re-apply it. Other than that, I am completely happy with the external sound card.

I got this as a way to use sound on my server. After I got done with the audio I needed it for I decided to test its capabilities. I hooked it up to my tv and media players (DVD player, Xbox, ect) and set it up as a surround sound system. It has worked beautifully for the past couple years. This is a very nice device in a small box.
